LUCKNOW / BIOTECH DESK: In an era where preventive healthcare and personalized medicine are taking center stage globally, Lucknow-based Food & Biosciences Research Lab (FBRL), located on Deva Road, has forged a high-impact partnership. FBRL has officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with CSIR-IITR TDIC-BioNEST, Lucknow, to accelerate the research, development, and commercialization of next-generation diagnostic kits and science-backed medical food products.
This strategic alliance is expected to bridge the crucial gap between academic research and market-ready clinical applications, offering novel solutions to pressing public health challenges.
High-Profile Signatories and Core Objectives
The formal MoA signing ceremony brought together notable leaders in scientific research and biotechnology development. The agreement was officially signed by Dr. Rachna Kumar, Head of TDIC-BioNEST, and Dr. Shipra Bhardwaj, Managing Director of FBRL.

According to the leadership team, the collaborative framework will focus heavily on three core pillars:
Innovative Diagnostic Solutions: Developing rapid, accurate, and accessible diagnostic tools to detect health anomalies early.
Evidence-Based Medical Food Products: Formulating nutritional and dietary interventions grounded in rigorous clinical validation to support patient recovery and disease management.
Personalized Nutrition & Health Technologies: Harnessing modern data and biosciences to tailor health regimens to individual genetic and lifestyle profiles.
The overarching mission of this collaboration is clear: to channel pure scientific inquiry into practical, scalable solutions that tangibly improve community health outcomes across the region and beyond.

"Health for All" and the Philosophy of Prehabilitation
Elaborating on the core vision behind the partnership, Dr. Shipra Bhardwaj emphasized that FBRL operates on the foundational motto: “Health for All.”
She noted that the institution's research and innovation initiatives are not merely designed to cater to isolated individual needs. Instead, they are strategically directed toward tackling broader public-health priorities through rigorous research on pure food systems, preventive healthcare, and stress-free lifestyles.
A standout philosophy championed by Dr. Bhardwaj and her team is: “Prehabilitation is better than rehabilitation.” By focusing on strengthening the body's resilience and identifying health risks before they manifest into chronic diseases, the partnership aims to shift the healthcare paradigm from reactive treatment to proactive prevention.

Pioneering Chronomedicine and Chrononutrition: The RHYTHMS Initiative
To reinforce this preventive health vision on a broader societal scale, Dr. Bhardwaj has spearheaded an ambitious new initiative known as RHYTHMS – Centre for Chronomedicine and Chrononutrition.

This specialised center has been established in active association with prestigious bodies such as the Indian Society of Chronomedicine (ISCM) and the Nutrition Council of India (NCI). The primary objective of RHYTHMS is to pioneer research and public-health awareness around:
Circadian Screening: Evaluating how biological clocks influence individual health and vulnerability to diseases.
Chrononutrition: Understanding how the timing of food intake interacts with circadian rhythms to optimize metabolic health.
Targeted Disease Prevention: Crafting public-health strategies rooted in natural biological rhythms to prevent lifestyle disorders.
Leadership and Academic Excellence
The driving force behind FBRL, Dr. Shipra Bhardwaj, brings a wealth of clinical, academic, and research experience to the table. As a doctoral researcher at the esteemed King George’s Medical University (KGMU), she boasts approximately 20 years of hands-on experience in clinical and public-health research.

Her contributions to medical science have earned her multiple national and international recognitions. To date, she has authored and contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed research publications and comprehensive book chapters. Furthermore, sharing her expertise with the next generation of public health professionals, she is actively associated with the Department of Public Health at the University of Lucknow as Guest Faculty.
Infrastructure and Future Roadmap
With the formalisation of this MoA, the newly established FBRL Innovation Centre at TDIC-BioNEST, CSIR-IITR, Lucknow, will serve as the primary operational hub and catalyst for this collaborative research partnership.
While FBRL’s main research and development center is situated at Goila on Deva Road, Lucknow, the organisation operates through a robust network—including its newly inaugurated facility at the CSIR-IITR incubation center. This multi-center setup allows FBRL to seamlessly integrate laboratory research with field-level clinical trials and public outreach.
As lifestyle diseases continue to rise globally, public-private research partnerships of this magnitude are essential. By uniting the incubation expertise of CSIR-IITR TDIC-BioNEST with FBRL’s visionary drive in preventive health and chrononutrition, Lucknow is rapidly positioning itself as a burgeoning hub for medical and nutritional innovation.
FBRL – Research for Health, Innovation for All.
